Our Reconditioning Process

Every Battery,
Rebuilt to Work.

We don't just clean batteries and resell them. Every unit that ships from our floor passes through a 5-step reconditioning process that restores plates, balances electrolyte, and proves performance under real working loads.

— Why It Matters

Refurbished Isn't "Used."

A used battery is whatever shape it was in when it left its last forklift. A reconditioned battery has been taken apart, cleaned to factory spec, electrically restored, and verified under load before it earns a warranty.

This page walks you through exactly what we do — and what it means for your fleet's runtime, reliability, and bottom line.

— The 5-Step Process

From Worn to Warranty-Ready.

Every battery follows the same workflow — no shortcuts, no skipped steps, no exceptions.

01
Cleaned

Strip, Neutralize, Pressure-Wash.

Every battery comes in covered in years of acid residue, corrosion, and warehouse grime. Step one strips all of it.

We disconnect every cell, neutralize surface acid with a baking-soda wash, and pressure-clean the entire housing inside and out. This isn't cosmetic — corrosion on terminals and connectors increases resistance, which kills runtime and accelerates failure. A clean battery is the foundation of an electrically sound one.

  • Cells disconnected & inspected
  • Acid residue neutralized
  • Housing pressure-washed
  • Terminals stripped & polished
02
Desulfated

Restore the Plates.

Sulfation is what kills most batteries before their time. We reverse it.

Every time a lead-acid battery discharges, lead sulfate crystals form on the plates. Normal charging breaks them down — but as batteries age, crystals harden and stop responding to a regular charge. That's when capacity drops and runtime shortens. We run each cell through controlled high-frequency desulfation cycling that breaks down hardened sulfation and restores the plates to peak conductivity. Result: a battery that holds capacity like a new one.

  • High-frequency desulfation cycling
  • Plates restored to peak conductivity
  • Capacity verified per cell
  • Bad cells flagged for replacement
03
Acid-Leveled

Balance Every Cell.

A battery is only as strong as its weakest cell. We bring them all to spec.

Over years of service, electrolyte levels drift cell-to-cell — some are over-watered, some are dry, some have off-spec specific gravity. Imbalance means the weak cells get hammered harder during use, accelerating failure. Our technicians check specific gravity in every single cell with a refractometer and precision-adjust the electrolyte balance so all cells deliver equal performance under load.

  • Specific gravity measured per cell
  • Electrolyte levels adjusted to spec
  • Cell-to-cell balance verified
  • Watering system inspected
04
Load-Tested

Prove It Under Real Loads.

A bench test doesn't tell you how a battery performs on the warehouse floor. So we don't bench-test.

Every battery is connected to a load-bank that simulates real working conditions — sustained discharge at the kind of amperage your forklift actually pulls during a shift. We monitor voltage drop, capacity, recovery time, and temperature across every cell. Batteries that don't hold spec under load don't get certified. They go back through steps 2 and 3 or get cells swapped until they do.

LOAD
  • Real-world discharge profile
  • Voltage & capacity monitored
  • Cell-level temperature tracking
  • Pass / fail certification

Certified

Stamped, Sealed, Shipped.

If it can't earn the ForkliftBatteries.com stamp, it doesn't leave the floor.

Once a battery passes load testing, it gets a final inspection: terminals torqued to spec, vent caps verified, housing sealed, and the unit assigned a serial number tied to its test data. We stamp it, log it, and pair it with full warranty paperwork and a 4-foot cable in your choice of connector. Then it ships within two business days, free to the lower 48.

  • Serial number assigned & logged
  • Terminals torqued to spec
  • Warranty paperwork attached
  • Free shipping in 2 business days
— What This Means For You

The Bottom Line.

Same Runtime

Reconditioned cells deliver the same hours-per-charge as new in real-world fleet operation.

Same Warranty

Full 1-year coverage on workmanship and performance — identical to new battery terms.

Smarter Price

Up to 60% less than new pricing — dealer-direct, no middleman markup, no hidden fees.

Greener Choice

Restoring batteries keeps lead and acid out of landfills — the most sustainable option for industrial power.

— Reconditioned vs Used

Not All "Refurbished" Is Equal.

Plenty of sellers slap "refurbished" on a used battery they wiped down with a rag. Here's how to tell the difference.

Used / "Cleaned"

What Other Sellers Do

  • Wipe down the exterior with degreaser
  • Top off electrolyte without checking specific gravity
  • Skip desulfation entirely or run a single charge cycle
  • Visual inspection only — no load testing under real conditions
  • 30-day or 90-day "best effort" warranty
  • Hope the battery lasts long enough to clear the return window
